We’re back!

The long-awaited news regarding the resumption of the mi-bike Motorcycle Insurance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul (ASBK) and Motorcycling Australia (MA) is finally here.

Motorcycling Australia made an announcement 17 June stating it was pleased to announce the restart of the 2020 ASBK Championship following the Covid – 19 where the Victorian Government and Department of jobs assisted ASBK in developing a COVID safe Championship plan that has enabled the return to the track possible.

Due to the current restrictions, fans will not be able to watch the action at the circuit, where hopes the restrictions will have been lifted for the third round at Winton MOTOR RACEWAY in September to enable the fans to watch the action.

ROUND 1 was held at Phillip Island in 27 February – 1 March 2020, which combined the opening rounds for the World Superbike and SuperSport Championship.

The opening Australian Superbike race began with a shock retirement when Champion elect Mike Jones’s Ducati machine experienced engine trouble during the warm-up lap. Wayne was quick off the mark and lead the race for many of the laps and took the opening race.

Race 2 was a thriller, with Cru Halliday, Wayne Maxwell, Mike Jones and Troy Herfoss all challenging for the lead. A close battle ensued with Wayne Maxwell taking back to back race wins, Cru Halliday taking second and Mike Jones finishing third. It was an excellent start to the season for the Boost Mobile K-Tech team sponsored Ducati team.
